Sehili made the appeal during a meeting in Tunis with Italian Army Chief of Staff Carmine Masiello, according to Tunisian National Radio. He underscored the longstanding and strengthening partnership between Tunisia and Italy, highlighting their shared commitment to regional stability and tackling common security and development challenges.
The discussions focused on expanding and diversifying military cooperation between the two nations’ armed forces.
Sehili also expressed appreciation for Italy’s backing of development initiatives in Tunisia’s southern desert regions and stressed the need to fully implement existing bilateral cooperation agreements.
Masiello praised the current level of defense collaboration and reaffirmed Italy’s dedication to building on that foundation.
He stated that sustained joint efforts would boost the operational readiness of both militaries and promote shared strategic interests between the Tunisian and Italian people.
